Desde mi juventud, siempre me han encantado las lenguas extranjeras. Tom\u00e9 mi primera clase de espa\u00f1ol con seis a\u00f1os, materia que sigui\u00f3 siendo mi favorita durante mis a\u00f1os escolares. Estudi\u00e9 espa\u00f1ol en la Universidad de Virginia, y en mi segundo a\u00f1o, en la primavera de 2014, estudi\u00e9 en Valencia, Espa\u00f1a. Aprovechando mi tiempo en el extranjero, visit\u00e9 Portugal y me fascin\u00f3 lo aparentemente parecido pero tambi\u00e9n lo diferente que era el portugu\u00e9s. Al regresar a Virginia, decid\u00ed estudiar portugu\u00e9s tambi\u00e9n. En el verano de 2015, volv\u00ed a Espa\u00f1a para realizar una investigaci\u00f3n ling\u00fc\u00edstica en Asturias, y luego a Lisboa para hacer un curso de verano de portugu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

After researching and writing a Distinguished Major’s Thesis on Spanish historical linguistics, I graduated from UVA in 2016 with Highest Honors. Having become enamored of learning about foreign cultures and languages, I spent a year and a half after graduation teaching English in C\u00f3rdoba, Argentina. The year after that, I went to Vit\u00f3ria in Esp\u00edrito Santo, Brazil, continuing to teach English, both in person and online. Apart from teaching, I also went camping, hiking, and learned to rock climb and dance forr\u00f3.<\/p>\n

In the fall of 2019, I began a master’s program in linguistics at the University of Lisbon, where I continued immersed in both Brazilian and Portuguese culture.
